Darren Ward who is joining our team as a VP Commercial Broker based in central Alberta.
With over a decade of dedicated industry experience, Darren Ward brings a wealth of expertise and a broad perspective to Legacy Mortgage Group. After earning his mortgage licence in 2015, Darren spent several years building his knowledge of the lending industry before transitioning into commercial finance. Over the past two years, he has focused exclusively on full-time commercial financing, co-brokering complex transactions and helping clients navigate sophisticated financial structures to secure optimal financing solutions.
As a valued member of the Legacy Mortgage Group team, Darren is committed to expanding his commercial practice while delivering exceptional service and tailored financing strategies to commercial clients across the region.
Background & Personal Journey
- Early Life: Raised in La Glace, Alberta, Darren grew up in the Peace Region and completed high school in Sexsmith, Alberta.
- Global Travel: Following high school, Darren spent six months exploring New Zealand, an unforgettable experience that included celebrating the Y2K New Year as one of the first people in the world to welcome the new millennium.
- Education: Darren attended the University of Lethbridge, graduating with a major in Languages (Japanese and Spanish) and a minor in History.
- International Experience: After university, Darren lived and worked in Japan for a year, teaching English before returning to Canada to begin his career in finance.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, Darren enjoys travelling, exploring different cultures, and maintaining connections with people from around the world. His international experiences have helped shape his relationship-focused approach to business and his ability to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.
Darren and his wife, Natasha, have been happily married for 11 years and are proud parents to two wonderful children, Kelton (10) and Emeri (7).
When he’s not helping clients secure financing, you can find Darren on the golf course, cheering on his favourite football, hockey, and baseball teams, or spending time outdoors fishing with family and friends.
